November 2025 Pool Blog

November has arrived! We are a quarter thru the season.

The bad thing about the calendar turning  to November is that there is a $10 increase in the cost of your Sanction Fee. There will be another increase of $10 on December 10th if you haven’t paid it before then. The increases are being enforced because Aactive gets charged more starting on November 1st and December 10th by the VNEA. You can pay your Sanction Fee in the following manner:

  • Drop off the payment at one of the Money Dropp off Location.
  • EMT to payments@aactivecoin.com
  • Drop by the office and pay with Cash, Check or Debit Card.

This past week I posted on Facebook the tentative schedule for the 2026 Winnipeg Playoffs. The Winnipeg Playoffs will take place from April 15th to 26th at the Assiniboia Downs. To view the tentative schedule, please see the picture below:

Teams may not play on all dates highlighted, but they should be ready to play on all of the dates listed. The Winnipeg Mowat Cup League Playoffs will be held on the weekend of January 3rd & 4th at Crazy 8 Billiards.

The playoff dates for all of the Rural Leagues are as follows:

  • Brandon Mid Season Tournament – January 9th to 11th at the ANAF in Brandon
  • Brandon End Of Season Playoffs – April 9th to 12th at the ANAF in Brandon
  • Southeast League Playoffs – March 13th & 14th at La Broquerie Hotel
  • Southwest League Playoffs – March 15th at the SLFN Hall
  • Beausejour League Playoffs – March 20th & 21st at BJ’s Bar.
  • Selkirk League Playoffs – March 27th to 29th at Roxies & Corner Pocket Billiards.
  • Portage League Playoffs – April 26th at the Assiniboia Downs.

RANT OF THE MONTH – SANDBAGGING

In the last few weeks I have received reports of player(s) deliberately losing games to drop their CSR. I can’t stop you from throwing games, but I do have some tactics I can use to stop it:

  • Suspend or kick a player out of the league.
  • After a meeting with Compu Sport this week, I have been given permission to freeze a players CSR at its highest point if I can show that they are throwing games.
  • All tournaments have a known ability clause. I am on many tournament committees. If I don’t think you belong in that division, I won’t enter you there.

I don’t want to resort to threats. Just play the damn game and see where you end up.

Have a great month!
