May 2026 Pool Blog
The 2025/26 Aactive Pool League season has come to an end. Since the start of the season in September there have been almost 450 teams play in leagues throughout the province under the Aactive Pool League banner. All of us at Aactive Coin would like to thank all of the teams and players for their continued support.
I have a couple of comments on all of the 2026 Playoffs:
- The pace of play has greatly increased. Up until three years ago I could schedule matches for 2 hours and the matches would mostly be completed on time. This is not the case anymore.
- We provide referee’s for all of our playoffs. All of the rural leagues get me. In Winnipeg, we have a lineup of qualified players that have taken a course, passed a test and worked at various tournaments over the years. You can disagree with their call, but if you come to me to complain about a call, it will fall on deaf ears. I will support them always. If teams don’t have confidence in the referee’s provided, you can use your phone for close hits. The referee’s don’t provide that service. We also won’t provide a ruling on close hits in this situation.
- I try my best each year to keep my temper down. In some situations it comes out. Lack of sleep will do that to a guy. If I raised my voice or was extremely sarcastic with you, I genuinely apologize. Some of it is deserved, but most is not. I will try to be better.
2026 Summer League Registration
With the playoffs behind us, it’s time to focus on the upcoming 2026 Summer League. The registration deadline for this exciting league is Friday, June 5th, so teams need to act quickly to secure their spots at their favorite location. There are 4 different leagues to choose from.
- Tuesday Handicapped – 4 player teams – 16 game format -10 week season – $10/player/night – Team CSR Cap of 6800 – No player with a CSR over 1800 allowed – 4 weeks of play required to qualify for playoffs.
- Wednesday Handicapped – 4 player teams – 16 game format – 10 week season – $10/player/night – No Team CSR Cap – 4 weeks of play required to qualify for playoffs.
- Thursday Afternoon Handicapped – 3 player teams – 10 weeks season – $10/player/match – Team CSR cap of 5250 – 18 game format – 4 weeks of play required to qualify for playoffs.
- Thursday Night Scotch Doubles – Jack & Jill format – 6 games – Team cost is $150 – Maximum 1 player with a CSR of 1800 or above – All matches played at Sonix Bar & Grill.
Summer League Playoffs will take place on August 20th to 23rd at Sonix Bar & Grill.
Handicaps will be based on a players CSR (Compusport Rating). All players that have played previously in the league will have one. How the handicap is calculated on a league night:
- Each team enters their players on the Compusport App.
- It will total the CSR of all 4 players on each team.
- Compusport will then award 1 point of handicap for every 70 points difference in each teams CSR. This handicap will be applied in each round.
Many of you had heard rumours of changes coming for next year. I can confirm there will be changes next year. What I can’t tell you is what those changes will be just yet. I have much work to do over the next 4 or 5 weeks to formulate the plan. Once I have the plan put together, I will publish it in my blog. Look for it in the middle of June.
Good luck to all the teams and players heading to Las Vegas for the VNEA Championships!
