Kicking Off The 2026 Pool Season!

Hello Aactive Pool League Players — polish your cues and stretch those breaking arms!

The Winnipeg Captain’s Meeting took place at Sonix Bar & Grill on Wednesday, September 2nd at 7:00 pm, and it was extremely well attended. By my very scientific estimate — also known as looking around the room — around 100 players stuck around for the meeting. I reviewed everything covered in the Important Notes that was handed out to all of the Captain’s in attendance. Here are the highlights, served up quickly before anyone calls a time-out:

  • Sanction fees are $30.00 for the Cash Plus and lower leagues, as well as the two Mowat Cup Leagues. VNEA sanctioned only — keeping it simple, like a straight-in shot.
  • Sanction fees for the Vegas and higher leagues are $50.00. These leagues are VNEA and BCA sanctioned — because apparently one acronym just wasn’t enough.
  • Sanction fee costs will increase by $10.00 on October 1st and by $20.00 if not paid by December 1st.. In other words, paying early is cheaper than missing an easy eight ball.
  • League qualifications — the part where we explain who gets to join the playoff fun.

Premier & Super Vegas Leagues – Players need to play in 14 of the scheduled matches to qualify for playoffs  — so yes, the table will notice if you disappear.

Vegas & Lower Leagues – All players MUST play 12 weeks to qualify for the playoffs.  Think of it as playoff math, but with fewer calculators and more chalk dust.

Handicap Leagues – All players must play 6 weeks to qualify for playoffs. Six weeks: just enough time to learn everyone’s shooting style and who brings the best stories.

  • Please send EMT payments to payments@aactivecoin.com. We are set up for direct deposit, so no password is needed — one less thing to remember, unless you are also trying to remember whose turn it is.
  • All league matches start at 7:00 pm. A few teams have challenges with that start time. As long as they reach out and let you know, please be understanding. Life happens, traffic happens, and sometimes a cue case mysteriously refuses to leave the house on time.

The full season schedules for all Winnipeg leagues will come out sometime on Friday, September 11th  or Sunday, September 13th  (Banjo Bowl). Please make sure you have the CompuSport App on your phone and that notifications are turned on. You will receive a notification as soon as the schedule becomes public.

To all my Rural Manitoba Leagues

Over the next few weeks, I will be hosting League Start Up Meetings. Here is the schedule, so mark your calendars, set your reminders, and maybe write it somewhere your future self will actually look:

  • Selkirk League – Thursday, September 17th at Corner Pocket Games at 7:00 pm.
  • Brandon League – Saturday, September 19th at the ANAF Brandon at noon.
  • Southwest League – Tuesday, September 22nd  at the SLFN Hall at 7:00 pm.
  • Portage League – Wednesday, September 30th at the ANAF in Portage at 7:00 pm.

Here’s to another great season — let’s make it fun, competitive, and only mildly full of excuses about table rolls. I look forward to seeing everyone in the very near future.
