August Pool League Update

Gearing Up for the 2025 Aactive Pool League Season

August brings with it a sense of possibility – a time of planning and anticipation for all of us at Aactive. Across pool halls, lounges and bars, the pool community begins to buzz with excitement for the upcoming 2025 Aactive Pool League season. As teams and players start to form and enter their teams, let’s take a closer look at what promises to be an unforgettable season.

The Calm Before the Break: Offseason Development

For serious players and casual enthusiasts alike, the summer time pool has not slowed down. Our Summer League has had a huge jump in the number of teams that have joined. In the summer of 2024, Winnipeg had a total of 54 teams and Brandon had 16 teams in their Spring league. In 2025, Winnipeg has 69 teams and Brandon had 19 team. These are great numbers! I’m hoping that this will reflect in a increase in our numbers for the fall.

The Aactive Pool League organizers have also been busy behind the scenes. We have started recovering the pool tables at many of our locations. The venues are preparing to host a season that promises one of our best ever.

Posters for all the leagues are starting to appear in the locations. I have sent out the 2025 Newsletters to all of the Winnipeg, Brandon and Selkirk league players by email. The Beausejour, Southeast and Southwest have been contacted with their league start up information. You have the information to help you organize your team. Now I await the team entries to be sent in. I have over 70 teams entered already!

CSR

The 2025 Aactive Pool League season is set to introduce CSR as our main form of handicapping. We are not completely doing away with our normal handicap system this year, but look for CSR to be our handicap system for all leagues starting in 2026. All of our Handicap Leagues will now use CSR. The leagues that will be using this are:

  • Winnipeg Mowat Cup Monday & Thursday Leagues
  • Brandon Monday Ladies & BCA Leagues
  • Selkirk, Beausejour, Southeast and Southwest Leagues

Teams will be given 1 point of handicap per round for every 70 point difference in total team CSR. We have used this system throughout all of our Spring and Summer Leagues and it has worked amazingly. I will explain it to everyone when I host all of the League start up meetings in September. CompuSport helps with the calculation of the handicap.

How to Get Involved

Whether you’re a seasoned player or a curious newcomer, there are countless ways to join the league. All leagues welcome new members year-round, and August is an ideal time to sign up. If you don’t have a team, but still are interested in playing, please contact me. I always have teams looking for players. Check your local league’s website or social media pages for registration details, schedules, and updates.
